He's beautiful and he knows it! Sassafras is 44lb of pure opinions! Ask him about his favorite band, movie, or way to eat peanut butter- he'll gladly tell you. A basic rule with Sassafras is if you show him respect, he'll show you respect. Just like with our human friends, we need to listen to their cues and give them space when asked or show them affection when they are feeling lonely. Sassafras is good at letting you know how he feels so his humans can give him what he needs. Sassafras is not a fan of collars and much prefers walking on a harness. He had a blast playing with our helper dog and may love to have a doggy sibling to play with. We recommend bringing any pups from home to meet him and see if they get along. Sassafras is a HUGE foodie and loves to enjoy all the rich and intricate flavors of his kibble. It is important his new home understands he needs his own space from humans and pets when being fed or given long lasting treats so he can truly savor the experience. It's a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take Sassafras home to try it out! Interested? If you'd like to meet our available animals, please check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
