Hi everybody!
My name is Sarah Beth and I'm a 6 month old Bernese Mountain dog mix. My life started a bit un-lucky... The human parents were not exactly prepared for the new addition to the family, so me and my siblings ended up in the La Porte pound. Scout Honor came to my rescue from the deadly needle and now I'm safe in a foster home. However, I'm still searching for my forever best friend... Are you my perfect match?!
It is true what it says on-line about me:
1. 'The Berner's outstanding physical feature is its coat, a jet black, thick, luxurious coat with bright white and rich rust markings. Straight or slightly wavy, the coat has a natural sheen that adds to its beauty.' Even after months in the shelter with not exactly the best food... my coat is pretty, bright and shiny like nothing you have ever seen!
2. 'The Berner's temperament shines as brightly as his coat. This is a people-loving dog who is also a willing worker.' Now that I'm actually safe I'm the happiest chic on the planet! I love my foster brother, my foster mom and all her neighbors, there kids and there doggies too. I give them all lots of kisses every day! My foster mom say dogs don't come any better then ME! I had one accident in the house, she carried me outside and told me that 'outside is where doggies do their business'. And I got it! I have not even messed up once and I'm only a little puppy.....!
3. 'Because he is so willing to please, the Berner responds to the gentlest of training methods. No yelling or yanking or scolding needed - just show him what to do, reward when he does it, and practice to make the behavior an ingrained pattern.' It is true! I learned to sit within 5 min! First I didn't know what mom meant with that word 'sit' so it was hard, then I saw my foster brother sit down and he got the treat. I just did the same and I also got a treat, easy!
4. 'Berners may suffer in hot climates; dogs spending time outdoors in summer must have shade cover and access to fresh water at all times.' This is true too... I love to go for walks, but really need to be an in-door dog in Houston. When the sun is shining on my black coat it gets HOT! First I didn't know that the common pool at the apartment complex was only for humans, so when no one was looking at me for 0.3s I jumped in. Wow it sure felt good after that long walk! :-)
I have however learned since then that dogs bath in the tub, but that is OK for now... Maybe where you live there is a lake or some other water that I can cool down in?
Also when we walk in the park I walk close to my foster mom with out a leach and listen when she tells me to come and when a leach is necessary because of all those cars, I do great too!
Some additional facts:
I weigh about 40lb right now but my foster mom predict I might weigh ~50lb as a grown up. I'm spayed, micro-chiped, got all my shots, heart worm negative, crate trained, leash trained and did I mentioned that I'm HOUSE TRAINED too?!! Is there any other training I can sign up for?! :-)
Would like to know more about me or perhaps come and meet me???
Please contact my foster mom Victoria at

See you soon!
Cheers,
Sarah Beth
