My Story

Sandy is a sweet pea: small and charming! Pulled from an urgent situation at a shelter, Sandy is now safe and sound in boarding, awaiting her ticket to a loving foster home or maybe even a forever family! Weighing in around 60 lbs, Sandy is a pocket pyrenees - perfect for anyone who loves the breed but appreciates a smaller package. She walks well on a leash, is good with cats and other dogs, but her favorite thing in the world is to receive attention and love from people. A confident, loving pup, Sandy's perfect home life might include a comfy bed, fun walks, and plenty of snuggle sessions with you on the couch! She'd do well having a canine or cat companion, and would be a good choice with kids as well, given her smaller stature and loving demeanor. She has had a heartbreaking start to life, but it's only up from here - could your family be the one to show her all that the good life has to offer? - Written by K.P. NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
