Look no further, you've just found the most handsome guy around!! Sam just celebrated his first birthday on June 10, 2004. He was purchased as a puppy from Shake-A-Paw when he was only 8-weeks old. They called him a Beagle/Norwegian Elkhound, but we can't figure how they came up with that!! He definitely has some hound in him, but we think he's the most adorable Heinz 57 around! Sam was surrendered to us by his heartbroken family because of severe allergies. They tried everything to keep him, including allergists, frequent baths, they even brought Sam along to the allergist hoping he'd find the cause of his owners problems. No luck. It was a very difficult decision for them and we understand why. Sam is one terrific pooch!
Now that he is in his foster home and settled in his wonderful personality is coming through. He absolutely loves everyone and is always ready for some affection. Sam loves the other dogs in the family (you can see him in the picture with O'Malley his temporary playmate). They run around, wrestle and love to play tug-of-war with their toys. He would be the perfect addition to a family with another dog or one who'd love to visit the local dog park! Sam grew up with cats and is fine with the cats in his foster home. He has also been raised around children, ages 3-10, and adores them. He especially loved swimming in the pool with them!! Sam is the kind of guy who could go anywhere!!
