My Story

Sam is a beautiful 9 month old neutered male Doberman in need of a new home. Sam is already fully housetrained, crate trained, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Sam has been raised with small children and an indoor cat he did fine with both but tried to play with the cat which the cat didn't appreciate. Sam is good with other dogs both male and female. Sam hasn't had the best start in life and will need a very patient person to adopt him. He was pulled from his mother at 3 1/2 weeks of age and given to his family. Sam's family had never had dogs before let alone a Doberman so they were new at this too. Sam was never socialized and this has made him very untrusting of strangers and strange things/noises. He raises the hair on his back and barks whenever anything strange presents itself. Since arriving into rescue I haven't found him to bark excessively only when a stranger walks through the neighborhood. This dog is very friendly and loving towards his own family it is with people he doesn't know that he becomes alarmed, His family didn't like Sam's barking so they kept a muzzle on him 24/7, even when he slept in his crate at night. There are now scars on the bridge of Sam's nose as well as his lips. Since being in rescue and not wearing a muzzle anymore, the marks on Sam's nose and lips seem to be diminishing. The ideal home for Sam would be with an active person/persons who will train and introduce new things to this sweet boy. He has no training at all and it would greatly benefit both Sam and his new owner to attend obedience class. This would not be a good dog for somebody that lives a quiet sedentary lifestyle as Sam needs to be exposed to new things every day in order to become more trusting. If you would like to meet this dog please fill out an application at www.lasvegasdobermanrescue.com and call Brenda at 702-256-0321. An adoption contract, a home visit/check as well as an adoption donation are required to adopt Sam. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS ARE POSSIBLE BUT A HOME VISIT/CHECK MUST BE DONE BY A RESCUE IN YOUR AREA. ALSO, TRANSPORTATION IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ADOPTER AND IN THE EVENT THE ADOPTION DOES NOT WORK OUT SAM MUST BE RETURNED TO US AT YOUR EXPENSE.
