Sage

Sage is such a sweet and happy boy! He is currently in a foster home and doing very well. He is so smart and quick to learn. He is house trained and sleeps in his kennel all night. There are 2 cats in his foster home and he does well with leaving them alone. Sage loves car rides! He walks well on a leash and is working on learning not to pull. He does well with children. Sage would be a wonderful addition to any family. Sage is one of the dogs we got from the home in Newton during that very cold snap. We thought maybe he had frostbite because he was holding a leg up, but it turns out he has two bad hips. He recently went to Iowa State, with the help of Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids, to see what could be done to help him. Clearly, he has trouble with both hips, however, because he has adjusted so well to his issue and really has no problem with mobility, the decision was made by the folks at ISU to wait to do anything. He is only one year old and still growing so surgery to remove the femoral head was not advised at this point and he is too young for hip replacements. Therefore, Sage is up for adoption, but we would do a foster to adopt contract for the next year. Within the next year, he will be reevaluated, and if surgery is recommended Critter Crusaders said they would still be here for us and would take care of the surgery. Sage does not let his hips hold him back! He still loves to run around and play!
