CONTACT: NMAF OFFICE 881-7297 I am a 3 1/2 year old German Shepherd mix weighing in at approximately 75 pounds. I was adopted at about 6 months old. I am a very loyal dog and VERY eager to please. I am extremely smart and well behaved most of the time. Unfortunately, I am not good around children and some adults, especially men, and I become fearful and anxious. This can look frightening to humans, but my trainers have said that this isn't "true aggression" and I have never bitten anyone. However, the home I go to should be adults only, and I should be kept away from children even when I go for walks, or to the dog park. I am also a very good watch dog and because I can jump over 4-5 foot fences, I need to have high fences if I am going to be allowed out in the yard without supervision. I don't do well being the leader of the pack. I need a stable environment and if I am going to be around other dogs, I need these dogs to be stable pack members. The dog I have been living with has too much energy and is not a good fit for me. I need some training in socialization. Home visits are required for all adoptions. Special arrangements for adopters out of Albuquerque must be made in advance, but out-of-town adoptions may not be possible.
