Rugby

Rugby was born 7/09 and has been with our rescue since 4/2010. He was surrendered by an owner that could no longer afford to keep him.

Rugby was aptly named as he's a 72# puppy that loves to play. He has a high energy requirement and would greatly benefit from the dog park or daily walks. His previous owner worked hard on his manners as he greets people politely with tail wagging and smiles. He already knows sit, down, shake, stay, and come. With his food motivation and eagerness to please, Rugy his an easy pooch to train. While Rugby has wonderful manners, he is a big guy that doesn't know his own strength. Because of that we don't recommend that he go to a home with toddlers.

Rugby is very intrigued by the cats at the shelter. He will sniff and walk away from those lying around contently, but any feline running will initate a game of chase ending in a pounce. We caution those with felines as he can easily be trained to respect them, but due to his size can easily accidently hurt one as well. Rugby does well with his puppy play group, but a proper introduction is required. Rugby is crate trained but we do not know if he's housebroken.

Important Information

Most of our dogs & puppies will be available to meet each Saturday from 10-2 at Madison's eastside PETsMART. If you are interested in a specific dog or puppy you will be able to meet the dogs by appointment as well if you have an approved application.

COST: Adoption Fee: $370

We offer a $50 rebate to our adopters who complete a training class and send in proof of completion within 4 months of adoption.

Our dogs have all been spay/neuter, vaccinated to date, microchipped, heartworm tested, current on flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention. We take care of any Vet care that the animal needs to be ready for adoption.
