My Story

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/gener. You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/. Dog's Name: Rufus (RUF0624MCTMD) Estimated Breed: Australian Shepherd MIX Approximate Age: 2 years Approximate Weight: 55 lbs Currently Living at: Foster Adoption Fee: $400 DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Hi there, I'm Rufus, and I've had a bit of a rough transition, but I am in a great foster home now with another resident doggie. As you can see from my photos, I've had a hair cut to fix my matted coat, but don't worry, I'll be fluffy again in no time! My foster mom says that I am still settling in and just starting to relax, but that I seem to like people and other dogs and I have a sweet personality. I am not currently using a crate, but at the beginning, I was fine sleeping in one; and, so far, seem to be housetrained. I also know how to walk on leash. Here's an update from my foster mom: Rufus loves to play with toys! As a young pup, he enjoys moving them around and munching on them. He can also fetch! - he will get the ball and bring it back, even though he is still learning to let it go so you can throw it again. He is learning "sit" and most of the time can do it when offered a treat. He is eating well and resting by my feet when we are not out and running. He has good interactions with dogs - both with Leia, but also when we meet dogs in the street. He loves cuddling and really enjoys being petted and hugged. If you are interested in adopting me please submit an application today! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family. Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.
