Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed are often very loving, super- smart and make loyal family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent companions for all age groups as well as best friends for gentle canines. Ruby is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The Texas vets believe Ruby to be a Yorkie / Cairn Terrier mix, between 2 and 3 years old and 8 lbs of pure love. Ruby (once comfortable in her environment) is very sweet in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. She has a love of life and positive attitude that touches the heart. After all, his very deserving girl has never had a loving and nurturing family to call her own. She has been a victim of circumstance in her life. Farfel's Rescue is committed to changing this trajectory for this awesome dog that has so much to offer a committed family. From Ruby's foster: "She is such a sweet, sweet girl! Loves sitting in my lap while I work, and she is very easy going. She is a bit shy at first but warms up super quick. She's just had a long last few weeks coming from a shelter in Texas. She gets along with other dogs, loves her belly rubbed, and is doing very well with potty training. Walks well on a leash too!" Rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy or nervous. This is expected in light of the very long transports and stresses of rehoming. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time is perfect for our wonderful Ruby. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs are a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. If Ruby is initially given the time and space, she will absolutely shine. Ruby is one of these pups that is a blank slate just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend, loyal companion and the greatest lap dog ever. We envision active, dog-crazy retirees for our sweet lap dog. She would respond so well to the love and attention that this group offers. Ruby would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office to love her up periodically throughout the day. We feel that at Ruby's tiny size only older kids can be counted on to handle her with care. Our sweet Ruby is too sensitive a girl to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside of the home. Ruby has a stunning golden coat that will require a lifelong commitment to consistent grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care as well as general longevity) to keep her scruffy Terrier coat super-healthy, cottony-soft and matte-free. Ruby will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations and spayed to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup.
