Arrival story: Roxy was pulled from an overcrowded rural shelter.
Approximate age / weight: 1-2 years / 96 lbs.
Personality: Roxy is a very friendly and playful girl who loves affection. She'll play fetch and even return toys back to you! Roxy is a confident girl who enjoys attention. She seems to know sit and is housebroken. Roxy is most adorable when she “hugs” you - when you are sitting, she gently places her paws on your shoulders and puts her head next to yours. She will actually pet your head gently with her paw.
Roxy wags her tail a lot - if you’ve ever had a Great Dane, then you know about that tail, so move those knick-knacks off the coffee tables!
Roxy wags her tail a lot - if you’ve ever had a Great Dane, then you know about that tail, so move those knick-knacks off the coffee tables! Roxy is fine with the resident, senior Great Dane in the household, and we recently tested her around some of the other dogs in the foster home. Roxy did great! One of the dogs in the foster home is afraid of Roxy and has let Roxy know that she does not like her. Roxy has grown to dislike that dog, rightfully so! Because this resident dog and Roxy don’t get along, Roxy is crated much of the time. As for cats, Roxy has grown accustomed to seeing the resident cats, and paws them in play fashion. The cats are not afraid of Roxy and one of them tried to engage Roxy in play, with a table between them of course!
Forever home: Roxy will need a home with no young children due to her energy and tail wagging. She will likely do fine with a playful doggy companion that isn’t intimidated by her size. Roxy will also do fine with cats, given time to acclimate to them and as long as the cats are dog savvy. Roxy must have a physically-fenced yard and a family willing to give her the training and structure she needs. Don’t be fooled by her size, Roxy is still a puppy and has to mature! She would love a family with Great Dane experience, but at the very least needs a home with dog experience, preferably larger breeds.

Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
