My Story

Roscoe P. Coltrain is a tri-colored male basset from Gwinnett County Animal Control. He's up-to-date on his vaccinations and is neutered and ready to be adopted. However, Roscoe is severely underweight and weighs just 30 lbs. His foster family is feeding him puppy food and is working hard to make sure he puts on some "smush". Since Roscoe is just about 1 to 2 years old, he's VERY puppy-like with lots of energy. A real foot-pouncer and ankle-biter, and doesn't yet know that he sometimes bites too hard. He understands and uses the dog door and loves to run outside. He's still working on housetraining. He wants friends to play with, but almost everyone he meets is bigger than he is, so it takes him some time to warm up. Once he understands there's no threat, he'll be frisky for hours. He loves to sing along with you, yipping, yapping, and howling a long, lusty ARRRRROOOOOOO! He'll go curl up in his bed/crate when he's ready for a nap, and also likes to nap in your arms or lap. For being a little guy, Roscoe has huge feet. His foster family has started calling him "Pawzilla" because they're massive. Roscoe is very afraid of noises, like traffic, the vacuum cleaner, lawn mowers, the washer and dryer. He'll just sit and quiver or try to find some place to hide. He can walk on a leash, but if he gets scared you'll have to carry him for the rest of the walk. Fortunately, he's small enough to carry. Roscoe might be a bit much for small kids, but he'd love older playmates. For more photos and for information on adopting this dog, please visit http://www.bhrg.org.
