**Meet Rosalie: The Quirky & Oh So Loving Golden Retriever**
Rosalie is a sweet, gentle, and skittish 3-year-old golden retriever with a heart full of love to give. Rescued from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico, she has some residual anxiety, but is incredibly affectionate and just wants to be the center of attention. She adores head and chest rubs, and is always ready for kisses and cuddles. She will follow you from room to room to “see if you need help.”
**Personality and Behavior**
Rosalie is well-trained and obedient, having completed a reputable 4-week training program. She walks well on leash and off leash in controlled settings / free fields and knows commands like “sit,” “down,” “wait,” “load up,” “leave it,” “off,” “quiet,” “back,” “spin,” “up,” “kennel,” “heel,” “place,” and “drop.” House and crate trained, she is not destructive and sleeps either in her crate or in bed with her people. Rosalie barks only when the doorbell rings.
She is skittish and shy at first, but warms up after a few days and will become your shadow after that! She absolutely loves her people and would love to be someone’s sidekick.
Her activity level is moderate; she loves to play, but is also happy lounging on the couch with you. She enjoys hikes, is a great running buddy, rides well in the car (loves car rides, especially when she gets a pup cup from Starbucks), and absolutely loves the water (she’d go swimming every day if she could). Her favorite games include tug of war and fetch, and she loves chasing a laser pointer around the house.
**Ideal Home**
Rosalie's ideal home is one where she can be the single point of love and attention. She has become aggressive toward other animals in her current home and is not dog-friendly indoors & selective outdoors on neutral ground. She might get along with some smaller dogs outside the home through proper and slow introductions. She is not cat-friendly. Due to her anxiety and fear of quick, unpredictable movements, a home without kids is essential as well. Absolutely no dogs, cats, or kids can be in Rosalie’s future home.
Rosalie thrives on love and attention, but is also quite independent. She loves laying next to you while you pet her head or chest and doesn’t need a fenced yard, though having one would be a bonus as dog parks are too much for her. She can be allowed on furniture, but boundaries can be set using her training commands.
**Special Notes**
Rosalie is on medication for her anxiety, which is inexpensive and should be continued indefinitely as she seems happier on it. She does not like things above her head, her belly touched (prefers head, front chest, & back scratches), loud noises, quick/unpredictable movements, other dogs inside the home, new people that wear hats (until she gets to know them well enough), or going to the vet.
Unique and endearing, she absolutely loves snoot kisses and will jump up on the couch & inch her face closer and closer for them every time you come home. She burps more than any dog you’ll ever meet, but it’s so cute!!
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys both playtime and relaxation, Rosalie is the perfect match. She’s the best, most loving girl you could ask for and just needs a forever home where she can feel safe and cherished. She has been through so much and needs someone very patient that is committed to giving her the very best home she deserves, while respecting all of her boundaries and needs.
Her breed makeup has been determined by an Embark DNA test. She has about 15 different breeds, including Bully breeds, Rottweiler, Boxer, Chow Chow, Samoyed, Jindo, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, American Cocker Spaniel, Chihuahua, Dachshund, German Shepherd Dog, and Poodle (Toy & Miniature). It's safe to say she is a supermutt, LOL! We think she looks mostly like a Golden Retriever though!
