My Story

6/8/08- Ronin is being fostered in Whitehouse Station, NJ. Needs work with leash walking, nice boy. 5/31/08 - I have a neutered male Irish setter that needs a home. He along with 2 other dogs (not Irish setters) have been abandoned at my moms boarding kennel. The owner became homeless in Dec and was to get them in Jan- here it is the end of May. He was a dog that was outside in the day and in at night. He lived with a female ger shep and another dog (their son). We had him neutered and treated twice for whipworm. I do not have an exact age- I think around 5-6 . His name is Ronin. I have no clue where he came from originally but he is purebred. We are desparate and do not want him to go to a shelter if there is an option. He is pleasant with people unknown about cats. Since he has been here a whilehe will fence fight some with other males - the 3 of the dogs have been very clean in their cages and wait to go outside. He is very active in the kennel. When he first came his coat was terrible ( from fleas and whipworms) but looks alot better - he is still on the thin side but a kennel is no where for a dog to live permanantly. Can you help? I am willing to assist with transport if needed. We are in Schuylkill county- NewRinggold- about 25 miles north of Reading, 30 miles west of Allentown and 50 miles northeast of Harrisburg. An application, vet reference, home visit and a drive to NJ a must to meet our dogs! Adoption fee required. To find out more about the Irish Setter breed, click here. To adopt, please submit an Adoption Application.

Every dog in rescue is placed spayed/neutered and current on their shots. They are screened for temperment and we do our best to place the right dog in the right home. We require all rescue dogs be house dogs. Irish Setters do not do well being outside only dogs. If the dog does not work out, it must be returned to Irish Setter Rescue. Adoption fees range for an older dog, could be as low as $200 to as much as $350 for a younger dog. Our average adoption fees are $350 for up to age 1 year, $300 from 1 - 3 years, $250 age 4 - 6 years and $200 for age 7 - 9. Any age 10 or older we are just so happy that someone is able to provide them a forever loving home. We try to get our vet bills covered with the adoption fees.
