And now, a few words from me:
Hi my name is Rody. I am a very small chi, whose mission in life is to be loved. I would be happy if you would hold me in your lap all day long. I love to be scritched and cuddled. I love to be with my people!

And now, a few words from my foster mom: Rody is a very warm and loving little boy who needs and wants to be loved.  He was rescued off of death row at a Detroit shelter where he had been turned in as a stray. Even though he is older and has some senior-related health issues, his foster mom couldn't stand to see such a sweet and loving dog be put down.

He is a senior dog and has cataracts, but is still able to see just fine. He is scheduled for a dental and will likely have several teeth pulled because his previous owners did not attend to his dental care. However, even with the state of his mouth currently he is able to eat small dog kibble mixed in with canned food. He's a smart guy and will also goes after the dry cat kibble if it's left out unattended.

His only non-redeeming quality is he sometimes gets underfoot because he likes to be nearby and to see what is going on. He will scratch at the chair leg until he is picked up and cuddled and pet. He likes to rest his head up against your chest or on your arm. He is definitely a cuddle bunny! He is very good with strangers, doesn't mind being pet and handled.

He is crate-trained and potty-trained. He does enjoy some alone time and likes to curl up inside of a small doggy bed for a nap. He is living with cats and other small dogs in his foster home and gets along fine, but he would do fine as an only pet.

Before you decide to bring in a furry addition to your family, please take a moment and try to think about your life over the next 10 to 15 years - or even more. Where will you be? Do you have plans to move? Travel? Have kids? Are you able to provide the dog with his or her required exercise demands? Please think very carefully about how this dog will fit into your life as new events may unfold. We want to ensure that this dog’s next home is also its last. If you’ve thought about all of the above and think that you may be the 'last stop' we look forward to receiving your application! Please ensure that you submit a fully completed application. Often we receive several applications for the same dog and if you leave out important details then you may be inadvertently eliminating yourself from consideration. Please visit the FAQ section on our website for more details. Thank you so much for considering a rescued dog.
