My Story

We were visiting our local public shelter on a day when they were very full, and we spotted this cute little gray guy in the kennels all the way in the back. We couldn't even tell what kind of dog he was - he was just this funny little old dog with no front teeth who seemed so sweet and nice. We knew right then and there we just had to take him with us, because older dogs - no matter how sweet - are often the first to be put down when public shelters run out of kennel space.

Wow, do we love Rocky. We named him that because of the light gray "mask" of fur he has around his face. He just hopped right in our car and off we went. Rocky fit right in at his foster home - he loves other dogs, cats and is even great with kids. His foster mom has an infant and Rocky is calm and kind around the baby and everyone he meets. He likes to go for walks and will get up and wag that tail of his like crazy when he sees a leash. He walks very well on a leash and he's great in the car too.

Rocky's mom has a sunroom and Rocky spends all day long on a dog bed, napping. He's so quiet that we often forget that he's here! He's just a great little dog. We also refer to him as our "little old man" because his front teeth are worn down to the gum line. He's like a little old guy who forgot to put his dentures in. Rocky does just well with eating - he chews with his side teeth and he loves his treats. Rocky also recently spent an entire day at an adoption event at Buzzy's Bow Wow Meow in Narberth, and he won over all the store staff and everyon ehe met. He's just one of those dogs where people say "what a great dog."

Rocky has been examined by a vet, and even though he's old (probably at least 10), he's in pretty good shape. He has no major health issues that we've seen, he's just a little slow in the hips when he wants to jump up into the car. He is cute, sweet and funny and he'd make a great companion for any dog lover - either a single person, a family or even a senior citizen who is looking for a buddy.

If you'd like to inquire about Rocky, please send an email to our Petfinder coordinator at [email protected]. Please be sure to visit our homepage here at Petfinder to read our adoption requirements, and don't forget to visit our website at www.arfsepa.com to read about the great work ARF volunteers do each and every day. Thanks for thinking rescue first and we look forward to hearing from you!
