My Story

~ THIS IS A COURTESY POST ~ PLZ DO NOT CONTACT MASSPAWS ~ If interested in this special dog, please contact the person or organization noted in the bio. Thank you! Who can resist those raccoon eyes? Meet Rocky, a deeply loving nine-year-old Plott Hound from Derry, NH! After his person passed away earlier this year, Rocky went through a period of mourning. With a mission in life that revolves around affection and companionship, Rocky yearns to share his love and loyalty with someone again. If you need the same things in life, let Rocky fill that void. He won’t disappoint! Rocky has been in temporary arrangements for several months, but needs a place to finally call home. If you are one of the many people who love senior dogs, please consider adopting him. He has a heart of gold and though he weighs 90 pounds, that does not stop him from trying to sit in your lap. Rocky has a low-key temperament but he’s active and still does zoomies! He loves to play fetch, but sets his own rules by keeping the ball most of the time. As a hound, he loves spending time outside sniffing everything. He also loves walks, but needs leash work. Rocky does not get along with other dogs so he’ll need to be your only pet. Interestingly, he seems to have the best listening skills when it comes to conversation. He enjoys hanging out with you while you tell him all about your day. Some of Rocky’s other qualities: good traveler, neutered, UTD on shots, housetrained, smart, and eager to learn. Rocky is a good fit for an experienced dog owner who is willing to work with him in a positive manner and redirect his attention when other dogs come near him. A yard that has a structural fence all around would be ideal. He will go through an electric, invisible type barrier if he sees a dog, or if another dog comes into the yard he will leave his friendly loving self behind. Rocky was accustomed to being with his person all day, so he should not live with someone who has very long hours away from home. Sorry, but no young children or apartments. Rocky previously lived with a teenager, so an adult home with a dog-savvy teen should work well. He also has experience with cats, but there is no guarantee!
