Ricky (aka Rocky)

5 year old Ricky has been looking for a home for a while now. It has been hard to find him a placement as he needs an owner with the right experience to handle him. For some people, Ricky instantly jumps for joy when introducing himself and he has been wonderful with all of our staff. However, he is not friendly with every new person right off the bat. With slow introductions, he can gain trust quite quickly, but he needs someone who is able advocate for his boundaries. During Ricky's stay with us, staff and volunteers who work with him have gotten to know the sweet personality that new people typically don't get to see right away. He is a complete goofball who absolutely adores cuddle time with his favourite people and endless hours of fetch. Ricky is beyond affectionate and demands physical touch at all times. He's the best boy at giving hugs and enjoys being the little spoon when snuggling under a blanket. This boxer/lab mix is full of energy and spunk, so he would thrive in a household that can keep him busy with playtime and exercise. Ricky will not be able to go into a home with children, however he may be able to have another canine companion. He can be selective with his dogs friends, but he may do well with another super friendly, social dog that could lead by example. We really hope Ricky can find a patient home soon, that is understanding of his needs because he truly deserves a life full of many adventures and love.
