Rhoda was found in Richmond, Texas, hiding out at the Bagley Pecan distributorship. She’d been hit by a car (presumably); both hind legs were broken and one leg displaced from the hip. She managed using her front legs. She was skin and bones and terrified.
She had surgery on the bad hip and her legs are coming along well.
She is very sensitive to loud voices and tucks herself away if her foster mom yells at another dog, but she always is grateful when she is told it is not her fault.
At some point someone shot her with a pellet gun. The pellet is still there but does not seem to bother her. Amazingly, as bad as life has been to her and as cruel as humans have been, she is still loving and trusting.
She is fine with other dogs (except when food is in the offing: remember she was in starvation zone) and with people. We're not sure about cats.
Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Petco on Bay Area Boulevard. The adoption fee is $125.
