My Story

Redford had to be euthanized on January 20th, 2009 - RIP my friend.

He was met May 21st by his new family - he loved them and their dogs. This prince finally gets to live in the manner he should have been living all along. He went into his home on May 24th with Shannon of On Golden Paws.

Whoever abandoned this dog should truly be ashamed of themselves!

He was found Sunday April 13th on Bruce road 6 from Holyrood 3 km towards Teeswater.

This absolute gentleman was picked up by Ripley animal control on Monday April 14th. He was due to be euthanized on Friday April 18th but thankfully they saved him a few extra days and called us Tuesday April 21st.

He was originally dubbed "Chance", as it is sheer chance he was spared. This darling loves everyone - he really brightens up around men, but is a sweetheart to women and children too, he met a baby and a young child and was good with both of them. He is fine with cats and loved walking around with dogs of all sizes and ages on the day we got him out of the pound, April 26th.

This dog did not deserve to be treated like garbage dumped by a litterbug.

He deserved his forever home and sadly he only had it for 8 months. There was no more deserving dog.

He loves human attention, is great with cats and other dogs, is good in the car, and is housetrained.

He loves to play ball. He is as quiet as a mouse when he plays in the dog run in his doghouse.

He went into foster care on May 2nd in Brussels - here is the foster mom's update "Cuddled on the couch with my nieces aged 8 and 11 and watched High School Musical 2 Saturday afternoon. Soon as he seen Chloe's ball that is all he wants to do is play ball. Someone must have played alot of ball with him. He takes it to bed with him too. Hopefully nobody tells him that he is old... because he doesn't know he is. He is finally getting his appetite back and wanting to eat. Not much eating done fri nite, sat, or sunday. Last nite he finally mowed down. had a good breakfast this morning also. He has not messed in the house since when he walked in on Friday night. I slept downstairs with him fri and sat nite. He slept beside me the whole time. Last nite was his first nite to sleep downstairs alone. No issues or messes. Has not chewed on a single thing"

If you are thinking he sounds like a match for you - then please consider that he would probably do best in a home without stairs. We will monitor his progress and if he does not improve from a warm home and good food then he will be x-rayed to be checked for injury. Please complete a dog adoption application on the adoption page of www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca

For his mature adult age - he has the typical whitened face with a beautiful dark red coat, he appears to be blind in the right eye, his hips appear very stiff at times, but on intake date once he had settled with us for an hour and a half - he rolled over on his back for a belly rub. He needs help getting into the back of the van.

He has a thinned back end, which could be from starvation or simply old age. He also has a broken bottom right molar and a broken lower front middle tooth.

Since when he was found he has been vaccinated and dewormed and we had him neutered and finally got him into out care April 26th.

please feel free to submit a dog adoption application now - as it is required to be considered for him - it can be completed on the adoption page of www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER WITH ENDLESS SPACE OR VOLUNTEERS !!! PLEASE READ THE INFO WE PROVIDE TO HELP YOU BETTER UNDERSTAND OUR POLICIES.

Please do not apply if you have multi applications out already - if you apply to us and plan to get a dog elsewhere within 24 hours then you are just wasting our time as well as other applicants that may have applying while we are sorting thru your application, when we could be replying to those applying for only this dog. We are interested in matching the pet to a compatible home -for their sake and yours.

Please email if at all possible. I can answer emails much faster than return phone calls, as emails can be returned at any time of night.

Please do not call before 6 p.m. or after 11 p.m. Yes this applies to any day ...........this even applies to Saturdays and Sundays as well.

The number you are calling is my home and I am a volunteer - I am not on duty 24-7 - I do have a paying job as well and I work various shifts and so do others in the home.... please have the courtesy not to wake anyone up or take us away from our chores by simply calling when asked.

If I am not home from work or simply unavailable because I am most likely looking after the animals or at the vets then when you call - please leave a message.

This is a non-profit private volunteer run organization. I receive many emails daily about our dogs and I do not reply to brief emails asking for details that are already provided in the bios or asking me to tell you what we have for adoption - as this is all info outlined on the site.

Our rescued dogs are in PRIVATE volunteer foster care homes, and there is no "drop in" hours to meet the dogs.

We require an application to consider you for any dog you are interested in. There are no exceptions on this.

We normally don't have more then one foster dog in a home at once. Most dogs are fostered several towns away from the next dog....it is not possible to meet all of the dogs and make your decision thereafter.

Also please keep in mind NO DOG IS PERFECT they all require training and effort so please do not apply unless you are willing to make a lifetime commitment.

Please note we do not do same day dog adoptions and a second trip IS required if the dog will be adopted to your home. No Exceptions - please do not ask!

We do not allow pets to be viewed by any family without all members present and we do not adopt for gifts. No Exceptions - please do not ask!

We do not adopt out dogs 6 months old or older that are unfixed - and any pups MUST be fixed at age 6 months - No Exceptions - please do not ask!

We do not ship dogs and we do not do out of province adoptions. No Exceptions - please do not ask!

Yes....there is an adoption fee.

The adoption donation/fee is a very minimal amount and is required because Pet Rescue provides all medical care and all supplies.

The adoption fee is non-negotiable. We fundraise to make up the difference for the actual vet and supply costs.

This is a non-profit rescue and the donation/fee goes towards any medical expenses to the veterinary clinic; for having shots, spaying or neutering, deworming, as well as food, collars, etc.
