My Story

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION IN THE DOG'S PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE EMAILING US WITH QUESTIONS. Our Volunteers use up valuable time answering questions, when the answers are readily available on our website. Our adoptions come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. We are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a facility. MEET & GREETS FOR DOGS IN ONTARIO WILL ONLY BE ARRANGED ONCE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IS APPROVED. THANK YOU!!! Please visit our website for more information: https://www.niagaradogrescue.com/ or fill in our adoption application: https://niagaradogrescue.com/adoption-application.php OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. This dog is currently located in: Texas Name: Rebel (20240801-10) Weight: 47 Ibs Age: 1.5 years old Gender: male Spayed/Neutered: yes Breed: Corgi Collie Mix Color: Tri Color Neck size (for collar): 17 inches Chest circumference (for harness): 27 inches Height (from top of head): 25 inches Length (from nose to base of tail): 33 inches Crate size recommended: 42 inches Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes, was around kids Good with other dogs: yes Good with cats: yes, but will chase when they run House trained: yes Energy level: needs an active home, loves to play Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: sometimes, mostly when bored Flight risk: no Food aggressive: yes, we feed him separately or in his kennel Current Food: Chicken or Beef Rice Walks on the leash: yes, likes to be close Rides well in the car: yes Destructive: can be, when he is bored (he is still young) Needs a home with a yard: yes Needs a home with another dog: yes, loves to play and run/ is social Can live in a apartment: no Foster insight/backstory: Rebel was an owner surrender to a kill shelter and we pulled him right before he was put down, due to getting sick at the shelter. After some decompression time and a few antibiotics, Rebel was ready to meet the world. Rebel is very social and LOVES to play, so another active dog would be awesome. Due to him being a working dog breed, you will see him trying to pull the dogs legs, like he is herding them…he will run so they chase him and if they stop, he will go for the legs again…he has his game figured out He loves kids and adults and also likes to be close and on your lap. Rebel knows his name and will come when called…Rebel also loves water so a great cottage buddy!! We believe he had to fight for his food and for that reason he is food reactive and we feed him separately or in his kennel. Due to him being young he is submissive..he has been around cats and doesn’t mind them as long as they nice, but if they start a flight and run he will go after them. Rebel has been around small and large dogs and did just fine.
