UPDATE: ADOPTION FEE WAIVED!
Raymond, our 3 year old 27 pound terrier mix, is working on his meditation practice. Like us, he's not exactly great at it yet. Holding still and deep breathing doesn't come naturally for Raymond. What does come naturally is a zest for life; and now Raymond is looking for someone who wants to share his joie de vivre (fluency in French not required).
Raymond was found stray locally with several small masses on his rear leg. Fortunately, they were biopsied as benign cysts and now Raymond is healed from the surgery to remove them. We've considered ourselves very lucky to have gotten to know him while he was recovering.
Like a lot of terrier mixes, Raymond has prey drive. This means he really wants to chase squirrels, birds, and cats. His foster family has been working really hard with Raymond on his leash skills and he is getting so much better! Raymond's adopter will need to be patient as he continues his training. A quieter neighborhood and a yard for quick potty breaks would be best.
Raymond is very friendly and sweet. He is easy to groom and enjoys prolonged eye contact while he's bathing (no judgment; you do you Raymond). Playful and funny, Raymond is also quite cuddly and will curl up for a prolonged Netflix session when the occasion calls for it. Raymond is good with other dogs and enjoys toys. Older kids would be fine for Raymond; he's still learning not to jump on people so smaller kids may get knocked over.
Like many of us, Raymond takes anti-anxiety medications. We have him on Prozac and this has really helped him stay calmer while on leash. He's doing great with learning to pay attention to his people and, because he's so smart and eager to please, we suspect he'll continue to do great. Raymond comes with the help of a behaviorist and training plan.
Raymond is going to make such a delightful friend for someone. Everyone who has met him has fallen in love. Think you're up for partying with Raymond? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
