My Story

Rachel Rascal is a southern lady--beautiful, gentle and a little sassy. Raised in the kennel with her littermates, she lacked socialization. She often stayed in a pen by herself. She is skittish around people she doesn't know and unsure/fearful of strange places. With fostering she has become accustomed to usual household noises and being with people. Her basic nature is quiet. Rascal barks only when she hears something she doesn't understand. She doesn't have to be with anyone all the time---just close by. Likes to snuggle, kiss and be kissed. Especially likes her rump above her tail scratched. When she doesn't want to do something or is fearful, Rascal will pull away, run from it, or will just lie down. She will let you pick her up--if you can pick up 60#! She’s not at all combative or aggressive. Rascal loves other dogs and would like a canine friend. She will run away from any that growl or snarl--even if they are smaller. Not aggressive or combative. Would do best with "non alpha" dog. She’s interested in kids, even though she doesn't understand them. Rascal eagerly watches them at play and when they call to her. Due to her size, Rascal might do better with grade school kids or those used to dogs. Rascal likes being outside to play and will need a fenced in yard. She never tried to jump or "dig out" at her foster home. She likes to explore and race around the yard - awesome runner! Rascal isn’t noisy or a disturbance to neighbors. She rides well in a car. She has chewed her bed, but Supplying her with toys, chew bones and milk bones helped. Rascal will need a patient home environment, training and time to help her adapt. Based on her good qualities--it will be worth the effort!

Rascal is a sweet girl, who is the last in her litter to find a home. She is very shy, but seems to do better with other canine company. All she needs is someone who she can trust - someone who will give her the time and love that she needs. Once she has bonded with that special someone, she will be a friend for life.
