In 9-06-07. This wonderful, we think purebred, ended up in the slammer in Southern Oregon. He was slated for euthanasia after sitting there for a week mislabeled as a Old English Sheepdog, which he is SO not. He's a young (about 10 months)dog with a super tempermant and lots of energy. His keepers never came looking for him. He is not neutered, yet, his coat is dirty and matted (was) and he isn't used to having a collar on or walking on a leash(great now after only 5 days!) . I am not surprised someone didn't care enough about him to look for him.
He is EXCELLENT with other dogs, super with all sizes and ages of people and a silly, happy - go - lucky puppy. He will be getting groomed and neutered here over the weekend and will be ready to meet prospective new owners early next week, after the 12th.

Porties, as breed reps. refer to them, are dogs that need a job! They have an endless enthusiasm for play and that needs to be addressed each and every day. They are cute, cuddly little teddy bear puppies that grow into kind, loving adults with stamina to go all day. They do best in homes with active people, who are social and can afford regular professional grooming, if you can't do it yourself at home (much bigger job than you can imagine!). They are not a breed for being ignored in a backyard, harsh corrections, or neat niks with super clean homes. Their life expectancy is 12-14 yrs and they are typically great with kids, except they can be too exuberant and knock them down and tromple them without proper rules, boundaries and limitations. They are an excellent choice for agility work, water work and obedience or herding competition. Most Porties are quite hypoallergenic, with very minimal shedding and work well for people with allergies. They are bouncy, versatile, and oooooooohhhh so cute. This is a dog that will want to work and play with his owners, and typically do extra well in a home with another dog matching their energy level to play with in a large, fenced yard. Porties investigate by putting things into their mouths, and so leaving your socks, wallet, or t.v. remote laying around on the floor might mean you need a new one! They run "hot" and you can frequently find them sleeping in the coolness of your bathroom, on the tile or in the tub.
