My Story

Dog Name: Quiana Breed: chihuahua Sex: f Age: 7-8 Weight: 7 lbs Medical Needs: none Housebroken: depends on who you ask! Yes she will not potty in the house but her level of excitement only exists in 2 forms and are as follows: gives no fucks- won't even lift up her head to acknowledge you so no accidents. Or.... you left her alone for 11 years (4 min) and she is excited that she no longer has to endure the horrors of adult abandonment (crate while others enjoy freedom) and she will pee right in your lap when you pick her up out of said crate. (It has happened to her foster mom- 10/10 do not recommend)There is no in between so if your not into her mood swings, she is not for you. Crate trained: yes. She goes in and out of the crate with no issues. But again, her mood swings are as follows: I will go in my crate and lay right down because whoever is putting me in here sucks and I don't want to be in their presence anyway. Or..... how dare you banish me to foreign lands and ignore my every need and I chose to sing the song of my people ensuring you have not forgotten my very existence. Again, if you don't like mood swings she is not for you. Good in Car: yes. Good on leash: she has 2 speeds: high and off. 80% of the time she wants to go outside like the sweet old lady she is, do her business and immediately come in for standard belly rubs about how amazing she is and you can never live without her. She will walk and have you follow her and be amazing. (P.s. don't trip on her because she is little)The other 20% centers around her golden years doing zoomies child free for about 68 seconds at the end of which she immediately will jump on your leg and demands to be picked up because how dare you let the queen get her feet in the grass. In that scenario she does not want to be on the leash but will not go far as the demand to be picked up FAR outweighs her need to run to far from the food source. Energy Level: see above Need a fenced in yard: preference but not needed if you are willing to tolerate her mood swings. Dog friendly: yes. She has tolerance for the resident terrorist at her foster home (half her size, not as many legs) and has ignored her completely even at meet and greet. If yes, does your foster dog need another dog in the home: nope. Her existence centers solely on her needs and she could care less about anyone else as she wants all of the attention and doesn't care what is planned until her needs are met. Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: yes. Her current 2 legged foster siblings are 12 and older. She is an old lady so children over 10 preferably as she is moody and can't be dropped. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Have we mentioned she is moody and self centered? (Picture it: drunk old lady, sick of raising kids and shows up at every function in mom's purse ready to splurge on snacks) She will legit be in your lap and try to crawl into your soul through your mouth. Do not even try to talk without her sticking a foot or tongue in your mouth as to ensure she has made it clear she is there. She doesn't sit still and is codependent on you constantly rubbing her belly and reassuring her that her very existence is why you were put on this earth. She is super food motivated and there is NOTHING she won't eat. She does not understand why it would even be a thing that you would not share even the smallest snack with her. She does seem to be leary of men (big or small) Our assumptions are she was not treated nicely by them and shys away from them. She is not mean and doesn't bite or growl at them but does not like to be handled by men unless it is a very soft gentle person. She came to us already spayed which went well and she is healed. She is utd on all shots and takes prevention meds. She was also treated for kennel cough and has finished her meds. She is older and is missing some teeth. She has no trouble eating etc. Fostered: middletown DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email [email protected] and ask the app team to pull your app.
