My Story

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html Purdy's owner in Denver, Iowa abandoned her when they fled town. Purdy took off and was loose for 2 weeks. This whole experience was traumatic for her. Waverly Pet Rescue took her in and she is living in a foster home. Purdy is now up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and spayed. We think Purdy is a Pyredoodle which is a Poodle / Great Pyrenees mix. Purdy was a year old in March 2024. She weighs about 45 pounds. It took her 24 hours to settle into her foster home. Purdy takes a little time to warm up to new people and other dogs. After that, she is a sweetheart. Treats are the way to her heart, and she loves them. She enjoys being petted. She is not a fan of getting her nails trimmed. She will need a patient owner and one that is kind to her always. Her previous owners neglected and abandoned her. Will take some time for her to adjust to a new home and trust again. She is super worth it! Purdy needs a fenced in yard to keep her safe so this fence is required. Purdy does have a sister named Xena listed on here if anyone would like to adopt both dogs. If they were totally bonded and missing each other when separated like what happens with some dogs, we would keep them together. It is not required because each dog would be completely ok without the other. Will someone please adopt Purdy and give her a forever home? $300.00 adoption fee. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to [email protected] All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters. Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
