My Story

Meet Pork Chop . . . This little doll is a beautiful red and white Pekingese/Cavalier Spaniel blend. She is a one-year-old gal weighing just shy of 15 lbs. Speaking of shy, Pork Chop can be timid at first, but her foster mom says she is a sweet and playful gal who is sure to steal your heart! General Behavior: Pork Chop can be a bit of a Nervous Nellie when first meeting people and it takes her a minute to warm up. But, once she does . . . she will be your best friend for life. In fact, when she was at PPR's veterinary office, she quickly became a staff favorite! Likes & Dislikes: Pork Chop loves toys! She is still in her teething phase so may, at times, think your hand is a toy. Having lots of dog toys will be a must. She also loves to cuddle and will hop right up on your lap when you sit down so she can burrow in. Training: Pork Chop is housetrained if she is let outside on a regular schedule. In her foster home she has been working on basic commands, as well as manners. She does tend to get riled up with excitement when her people come home, so her new owner will need to be consistent and continue working with her on her excitement. Pork Chop is learning all about the leash and will need continued practice on leash walking. Pork Chop does well on car rides. Medical: Pork Chop is a healthy pup and will just require her monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any other pup. Other Animals: Pork Chop does play with other dogs and is good with dogs that are patient with her. She does get nervous when dogs have too much energy or want to wrestle, so a calmer pup would be best for her. She would also be ok as an only pup, if she gets plenty of exercise and playtime with her human. She has not been tested around cats, but we think she would be okay with them, if they are introduced slowly. Children: Because Pork Chop can be nervous and is still working on her excitement at times, a home with respectful, older (10 years plus) children would be necessary. Home: Peppy Pork Chop would be fine in either a single-family home or in a townhouse/apartment. She can be left alone for several hours and sleeps well overnight in her foster home. Although she likes to chew on toys, she has not chewed on any human items in her foster home. Grooming: Pork Chop will need professional grooming approximately every 2-3 months. The average cost for this is $65, so this ongoing cost should be something that her future owner takes into consideration. Between grooming, she will need at home spa days with regular brushing and nail trimming. Overall: If you have a patient and loving heart, a warm lap and a bountiful supply of dog toys, Pork Chop is the girl for you. We know this gal will warm her way right into your heart!
