Popeye

NOTE: THANKS TO JOSEPH FOR TAKING BOTH OLIVE AND POPEYE AND GIVING THEM THE CHANCE THEY NEED............ Popeye was pulled from a Ohio kill shelter with Olive. We believe that they are related. Popeye and Olive came to the farm ready to take everyone on. After a couple of little attitude adjustments from our top dog Barney, we turned them all loose. There was not another incident. We feel that these dogs have not been very socialized and their problems with other dogs are fear based. We feel that Popeye would do fine in a home with another dog as long as the adopters would take the time to let him adjust. He is not very old - maybe a year and just needs to understand that he is safe. Popeye will be neutered the week of June 10th and will then be ready for adoption. He will have settled in more and we will know more about him. He is quickly learning that life can be fun and exciting. He went for a walk today - loose - and he stayed with us, leaped through the tall grass, found a stick to play with and rolled and rolled. It was obvious that this is a dog that has not had these experiences before. It is a shame that people get dogs and do nothing with them but feed and water and we feel that that has probably been Popeye and Olive's life. They are adjusting quickly. Both dogs are great with people. They were groomed today and did perfectly. Popeye if much less assured that Olive. He does not walk on a leash and just lays flat on the ground. We are not sure if these dogs are house trained yet but will know more this week. I will update Popeye's bio as we have more information.
