Good in a home with
Piper is a lover of the dog park and he does well walking on a leash. He is crate trained but will bark when you are leaving. For the most part, Piper is house trained but he will have accidents now and then which is not surprising as he's still coming out of puppyhood & his neutering is May 19th. His foster Mom suspects his 'personality' is going to be a more dominant one. He only weighs about 25lbs now so he's not going to be too big, maybe 40lbs when he's grown.
Piper's fur is long and he does require some grooming/brushing. He did well with some kids at the dog park who were around 6 to 8 yrs old. He is very friendly with people. He sometimes shows too much interest in the cats but he is easily corrected and the cats don't mind him too much.
We pulled Piper from Adams County dog pound. He resembles other puppies we have rescued from there in the past. Now, as then, we aren't sure of the breeds of these mutt pups. He could have some beagle and we think there is definitely shepherd. We see a bit of Sheltie or Collie in there too. There is a very good chance that Piper is some strain of a herding dog. Those other dogs did not grow to be very big so we doubt Piper will be over 40 lbs.
His foster mom would like a fenced in yard for him if possible because he likes to be outside but not that's not a must. She does insist that his adopters be willing to take him to the dog park and on walks. He would probably do well in a home with other dogs so he has some playmates but it's not a requirement. He loves to give kisses and he does well on car rides.
