BIG BABY ALERT! He is now ready for adoption as he is fully vetted and we know all about him with his foster!??? Name: Phoenix Age: approx..: 5 ½ Weight: 86lbs Breed: Doberman Gender: Male Dog Friendly: Yes Play style: Shy, tends to give space and prefers calm play Cat friendly: Has only interacted with outdoor cats when on walks, shows little interest or reaction Kid friendly: Very kid friendly. Follows, plays with, and sits on (thinks he’s a lap dog). Have only seen him interact with an 11 year old Best suited for: A family with a fenced yard, would do well with siblings that can show him the ropes and be his companion. Crate trained: unknown if he is crate trained, crate was not used in foster. No destructive behavior when left home alone. Prefers to sleep all day. House broken: Yes, no accidents even when left alone for a few hours How does dog walk on leash: He is wobbly, walks are a little difficult because of the wobble. He does need some leash training. He pulls but does well with a front-clip harness. Gets over excited to meet new people and pulls towards them. Any Tricks?: He knows “sit” and “stay” He will go get his toys when you tell him to. Energy level: Moderate. He likes to be close to someone and will nudge you if you’re not petting him. He will follow you anywhere you go. Definitely a shadow dog. He does not jump on people, and does a little happy stomp when you come home with a big smile and butt wiggles. Behavioral issues: Will occasionally do things to get your attention, like picking up a shoe, but does not chew it. He will attempt to push past you to get out of the door when you’re trying to leave the house. But will listen if you place him at a distance and tell him to stay. Special needs or requirements: Walks with a wobble. Has had x-rays done and there was nothing abnormal. He has been taking hip and joint supplements twice a day. He has not wanted to attempt to go up a flight of stairs yet. Phoenix is an amazing dog. He is so goofy and loving and wants nothing more than a family to love on. He makes a great companion. His sweet personality makes him impossible not to love. He is so gentle and sweet and he gives the BEST hugs. He loves toys, especially stuffies and bones. He loves to sit with you and watch TV (yes, actually watches the TV). So far, his favorite movies are Finding Nemo and 101 Dalmatians.
