Philly Vanilly

Introducing our handsome guy Mr. Philly Vanilly! This poor guy has definitely had some struggles. He was found emaciated & terrified on the streets of Detroit. He’s gone through a lot since then. He had some pretty horrific pneumonia & we are so thankful he pulled through. We believe him to be a Goldendoodle or Standand Poodle, we are unsure. He’s currently still on the thin side weighing around 65lbs lbs & we think is around 1-2 years old. Philly has legs for days, he’s quite tall and resembles a mini giraffe. We are in search of a loving home who can understand what he’s endured & is willing to help guide him in life. Some key points on our guy - - Philly is an uncertain dog, but oh so loving! He latches on immensely to his caregiver for support & guidance. He needs to learn how to assess the world around him with a confident handler who can expose him to new things. Philly has separation anxiety from his caregiver, so we are seeking a caregiver who is home frequently or can work with him on this. He feels great love for his person and is uneasy being alone at this time. He can also not be crated. - No kids due to his trauma past. He can be a flight risk, so we wouldn’t want anyone leaving a door open on accident. A fenced yard is ideal, as he cannot be trusted off leash at this time. Also no electric fence for him. When walked he stays right by your side looking for reassurance. - Philly Vanilly is a gentle giant but he’s a big guy who can be energetic & strong. He still needs to learn some basics, but he’s making progress daily. He just loves the people he trusts so much. He will come into his own when he has consistency and positive reinforcement. He’s a sensitive boy looking for a sensitive owner. - We are hoping to place him as an only dog at this time. Although he is dog social, his ability to handle a lot of stimulus & evaluate it properly will take time. He lived in a fight or flight mentality for a period of time on the streets. This affected him, he was rather shut down when we rescued him. Philly Vanilly has the potential to be your greatest companion! He’s been through a lot, but will take some time to adjust in life. He’s a special man & we feel blessed to be a part of his journey. He’s a great dog for the right person!
