My Story

Adopted by his foster family July 2006!

Upon Arrival; April 16, 2006:

Lucky Petey has gone see if he likes living with Jasmin and her folks! You will find Jasmin in our 'Happy Tails' pages, she was adopted a few months ago. She is a pretty happy girl and the only thing we think can make her life even better than it already is is a little brother and Petey is trying out for the part right now! Petey is being temporarily fostered at the moment with hopes he and Jasmin will fall in love and live happily ever after soon!
Please check back for updates on Petey's adoption status.

Introducing Petey:
Petey is a four month old Shar-pei who was removed from a puppy mill in Richmond and taken in by the SPCA. The SPCA then contacted TnT Rescue who were able to take him to a foster home right away. Petey will be ready for his new home once neutered.

Petey is all puppy, happy, silly, and playful! And a little bit part piglet, he's roly poly, and makes snorting noises while he wriggles around on his back! He loves belly rubs and has the cutest belly button ever. Petey likes to run around the house and play play play! He runs so fast that his big feet can't catch up with him and he tumbles over! He loves toys and went shopping by himself, pulling a ball right down off the display rack and fetching a woolly lamb out of the bin, so that his foster mom was forced to buy them! Petey was very good on a long walk on the leash and played well with other dogs at the dog park. (After that he came home and jumped all over the bed pillows with muddy paws!) Petey has behaved well with his 3 older foster siblings, and seems to be more of a submissive personality. He likes to cuddle and sit on your lap once he is tired, and he wants to sleep on the people bed with you. Petey is a beautiful shar pei and will be a gorgeous dog, most likely over 40 pounds, maybe over 50, he's got some big paws! Like all puppies, Petey will need training and lots of activity, but he's house trained, learning quickly, and is lots of fun!
And how could you not fall in love with that face!?

Sadly this little one's siblings did not fair so well and they are still out there, somewhere, waiting to be sold by this back yard breeder. The breeder took the rest of the pups and their mother before the SPCA could help them.
Sam, who is also posted on this site and in need of a new home, is from the same breeder.
If you come across any questionable breeders while searching for a dog please contact the SPCA in your area.
If we all work together to stop backyard breeding there would be less dogs in need of rescue.
