My Story

Persia was picked up walking the streets of Wynne on 06/09/10. She is a corgi/Jack Russell Mix with brown and white patches. Estimated DOB for Persia is 06/09/09. She weighs 17 lbs as of 06/09. Persia is a very loving dog and loves to just hang out with you. She gets along great with people and dogs! Persia is heartworm free and ready to go. Please help us find her a home! 6/7/2010 Persia came to be our guest yesterday and what a great guest she is! She is housetrained and gets along well with our dog and inside cat. The outside cat is not friendly toward other animals, but Persia tried to play and when she discovered that Nathan would not play, she left him alone. Persia is also great on a leash. We walked a mile last night and a mile this morning...not tugging, pulling, running ahead or behind. She is a bit skiddish of loud noises and the rice well pump spooked her at first; but she is no longer afraid of that noise. She lies on a rug or towel in whatever room I happen to be in. Persia is very quiet and 'laid back'. She will make a great home companion and a great walking pal, too. <> 7-8-2010UPDATE Persia would also make a good bed partner. She took a little nap with me yesterday...just curled right up at the end of the bed and went right to sleep. She does snore a bit. She sleeps in the sun room on a rug. This morning I found her all curled up on her rug sleeping soundly and no 'mishaps' on the floor. What a great dog. She is afraid of Gracie (inside cat). Gracie has decided to be a hissing, spitting bad cat with Persia. (Gracie has behavior issues with some dogs...who knows why...well, she's Gracie....) However, Persia has yet to bark or snap at her and she would be justified in doing so. What an easy dog to acclimate into a home. She is a great walking partner...we logged in another mile this morning. Persia deserves 'alotta' love. < UPDATE 7/12/10 My sister brought her three (3!) very active dogs out to run and play in our big back yard. (We have 4 acres) The first time they came, Persia was frightened by all the noise and chose to stay in the sun room. The next time they came, I made her come on outside. At first she was cowering and had her hackles up. Then she realized that this crew just wanted to run and romp and she joined right in. Persia will chase the ball, but won't bring it back. She just likes to run in big circles and play chase with whomever will run from her or after her. She really seemed to have a great time with the other dogs. She and Gracie (inside cat) still don't get along. Persia tries to avoid Gracie, but Gracie can be aggressive toward her. Persia has yet to bark or snap at her. I have to work to keep Gracie in a different spot from Persia. Persia would probably do well with any other cat...and she certainly had a great time with sister's dogs. She would be a fun, easy addition to a loving home. <> July 14, 2010UPDATE Persia does not like the sun room for sleeping. She really wants to be in the house, in the bed with one of the two-legged mammals that reside here. However, Molly(dog) and Bill(man) are not ready to share a bed with Persia. Molly is old and nearly blind and I need Bill to mow the yard, so I guess Persia will have to be happy in the sun room. It has food, water, a sofa, and is cool...however it does not have the companionship that she craves. We walked early this morning. Persia enjoys a brisk walk and does not mind the early hour. When we got back, Cait (daughter) was still in bed and HOORAY for Persia, she had someone to sleep with. She jumped right up and snugged right in with Cait and enjoyed a bit of time in bed with a human. (Cait does not want a dog in bed with her...) Persia continues to be a good house guest. The only thing that scares her now is little Gracie. Gracie has decided that Persia is in need of some negative attention and she is happy to hiss and spit and slap (she is declawed) at Persia. Gracie is petite, yet she can puff up and look wicked; Persia leaves her alone and cowers in her presence. If Gracie were sweet; Persia would enjoy being in her company. All of this to say that Persia is a loving, pleasing pup. What a great time she would have in a caring home. <> UPDATE 4/17/2010 Persia and I had a day in the yard yesterday. She stayed close by and was playful until it got hot. She found her a place in the shade and watched as I worked. She was/is really good about staying in the yard. She does not wander off and will come when she is called. She has a hard time coming back inside when Gracie (cat) is at the door. For a little cat, Grace packs a powerful whollop of intimidation. Persia is a happy dog and is easily pleased. She likes to walk and is just as happy hanging out in the shade watching others work. She will entertain herself by running big happy circles a couple of times around the yard. Persia needs a loving home.
