My Story

Age/Birthdate: 3.5.24 • Expected Weight:40lbs • Breed Guess: Beagle Mix• Fully Vetted: No • Adopt fee: $500 Any Special Medical or Special Needs: N/A Temperament with: Dogs: Very good Cats: Yes Children list specific ages: 2 and up Strangers: Good. Likes to bark at first Training Needs: Typical puppy training Crate Trained: No Potty Trained : Working on it, but for the most part doing good. Hi there! I'm Pepper, a cute Beagle mix puppy. I'm great with other dogs and haven't had any issues getting along with them. I've seen a couple of cats around, and while I didn't react, they're a bit scared to come close. I'm good with kids—I live with a 2-year-old and a fifteen-year-old, and we have a lot of fun together. I might bark at strangers briefly, but I warm up quickly and love being petted and making new friends. I walk nicely on a leash and know how to sit on command, but as a puppy, I still have some learning to do. I sometimes bark at strangers or other animals, but I'm working on it. I'm not crate trained yet, and I'm doing pretty well with potty training, though there's always room for improvement. I'm an active pup and love playing with my sister, Penny. We're inseparable! I enjoy being outside, running around the backyard, sunbathing, and playing with my toys. I'm also known as the master zoomer! A big backyard where I can run around would be perfect for me, and I'd love an active family that enjoys walks and outdoor activities. I'd do great in a home with other dogs, especially since I love my sister, Penny. Whether there are children or not, I'd fit right in. One of the cutest things about me is my love for snuggling. My siblings and I are some of the best snugglers around! I love to curl up close to you on the couch and nap right on top of you. Plus, I'm the perfect size to take everywhere! She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval. ADOPTION FEE: $500 (includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention) *Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure. Interested? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
