My Story
**These two are currently unavailable as we wait for an appointment to get Poppy's eye checked out. They are still available to meet and play with in the meantime. Updates on their availability will be posted her on their Petfinder, and please call with any questions**
Feast your eyes on the two most gorgeous girls in town! These sweethearts are Penelope and Poppy! They are one and a half year old female Border Collie mixes, and we believe them to be sisters.
Penelope and Poppy were found just down the road from the shelter, and were likely sadly dumped. No owners came forward to claim them, so they are now looking for a safe forever home! These two sisters are searching for a home together, as they are a bonded pair. Currently, they get too stressed if we try to separate them, so we believe it's in their best interest to stick together, and they must be adopted as a pair. There is a discount, however, for taking two animals at once!
Since they came to us as strays, we don't know much of their history. The shelter is a scary place for a dog to suddenly find themself in, and these two need some extra patience as they adjust. They are both incredibly sweet, but they are very nervous (especially around strangers) and ask that you go slow with them. As they get to know us, they have already started to open up, but their future owner will need to spend some serious time helping these girls feel comfortable.
We know that Penelope and Poppy love each other unconditionally, but we have not seen how they do around other animals. Right now, as they're so stressed from the shelter enviornment, they seem scared of our other dogs. We strongly recommend a meet and greet with any pets in the home to make sure Poppy and Penelope would be the right dogs for you. We also have not seen how they are around children. With how scared they are, they would probably not feel comfortable around small kids or children that will grab at them.
Poppy came in with an eye injury, which we will be getting checked out by a vet before making her available. We don't know what level of training these two have recieved, and their owners will likely need to work with them on housebreaking and obedience. Please keep in mind, too, that since their trust has been broken from being abandoned by their past owners, you will have to be gentle with them until they can learn to trust again.
While Poppy and Penelope will be a labor of love, these two are definitely worth it! They have received their first round of vaccinations and will soon be ready to go to their forever home. If you're willing to take a chance on these sweethearts, please stop by and meet them today!
