My Story

As we are sure you can see from these photos, Peanut is a sweet, funny boy, who likes to play with his current sister and sleep in funny positions Peanut is on Vancouver island and searching for a new home Peanut is nearly 2 years old and around 55 pounds, he is good with dogs with proper introductions and loves to play. He would be a fabulous adventure buddy but also loves to take naps after a fun day out. He is friendly with people and older kids with intros. He is looking for an active home. He is very smart and very trainable. He currently lives with cats and could live with cats depending on how dog savvy they are and with some patience. He is good in a crate. His current owner says he is so goofy and loveable and silly. She often has to carry him to bed at night if he falls asleep on the couch or somewhere that's not the bedroom. Peanut can have energy, and needs proper exercise and basic boundaries put in to be the great boy he is. He is young and with a leader teaching him will develop into a well rounded boy, he wants to please. When his current family works with him on his own Peanut does great, his leash walking is good and he manages his energy with guidance. Unfortunately though due to his sister dog being a more anxious/ reactive dog, when he is with her he picks up some bad habits (he doesn’t quite know how to be his own person) and will follow her lead in things that need to be corrected such as excitability on leash. Despite the support and training we have tried to offer the family, they are finding it too hard to manage their current dog, and feel that Peanut would do better somewhere without Joey. They feel that Joey's issues are stunting Peanuts progress. Without following Joey's lead on some of these habits, peanut is eager to please and very trainable. Peanuts family has been very honest in that his behaviours have been picked up through Joey and have said numerous times that they can be corrected with the right person. They have said multiple times if they didn't have Joey they would love to keep him as he is much more manageable A trainer who works closely with Mexpup has spent some time with Peanut and his family and he was fantastic when being handled by Ron, who also says he is picking up cues from Joey. We are happy to provide more details for people who reach out
