Patsy

Hi my name is Patsy and I am a 12 week old Cocker Spaniel mix. I am a little girl who did not have a great start in life. I was driven by a man to a shelter where he dumped me with 4 other pups and some adult dogs. He didn't even flinch when they pulled us out of the itsy, bitsy steel box in the back of his truck. He drove off and never looked back so I guess he was proud of his accomplishment - getting rid of his dogs. The shelter has a very high euthanasia rate but that did not bother him. We all huddled together on the concrete floor in the back of the kennel. The other pups are bigger than me so they gathered around to help protect me from the odd sights, sounds and smells. The next day a volunteer from S.A.F.E. Animal Haven was walking through the shelter and it seemed to me she was a pretty nice woman. She stopped to speak to everybody in the kennels, giving them a pat on the head and holding back the tears because she knew she could not save them all. I wanted to give myself and my friends a chance of escaping our horrible fate so I had to come up with a plan. I stepped from between my friends, threw my little head back and began to sing: Rescue me Oh take me in your arms Rescue me I want your tender charms 'Coz I'm lonely and I'm blue I need you and your love too Come on and rescue me Come on baby, take me baby, hold me baby, love me baby Can't you see that I need you baby Can't you see that I'm lonely Rescue me All my friends joined in and although it may have sounded like woo, woo, wooooooo - she got the message! She came over and kneeled down to tell us we were safe and going home. I am the happiest pup alive because we all left in the arms of volunteers and are now awaiting our forever homes. WE FINALIZE EVERY ADOPTION WITH A HOME VISIT THEREFORE POTENTIAL HOMES MUST BE WITHIN A HOURS DRIVE TIME OF CHARLOTTE NC. A FOSTER PET WILL NOT BE SHIPPED TO SOMEONE LIVING OUTSIDE THE ADOPTION AREA NOR WILL ANYONE BE ALLOWED TO COME PICK A PET UP FROM US. YOU MUST BE 21 TO ADOPT FROM OUR GROUP.
