My Story

Only applications for adoption in Durham Region will be considered. Any out of area applications will be disregarded. Please see our website for information on our adoption process. Please note that all questions on the application must be answered fully in order to be considered. Name: Paddy Breed: Boxer/Shep X Age: 7.5 year Size: Medium (60+ lbs) Energy: High Kids: Yes – 7 years + Dogs: will have to be tested and properly introduced to see if it’s a fit Cats: No Paddy is approximately 7.5 years young, and he continues his life journey with a high level of energy. He loves to walk 2 or more times daily for at least a half hour each time or much longer if he can and lots of mental stimulation. He loves to expend his energy, so an active home would be best. Paddy is very loyal to his family members. He is a protector and will bark if he hears something different and runs to the door. With proper redirection he will back away from the door to his bed and lay down. Sometimes he is just sitting and looking out the window at the front door and will give a bark out if he sees a leaf flying down the street! He is very well house trained and will NOT destroy anything but his rubber toys. He likes to chew and spit out…. he won’t swallow the pieces……..Kongs are his toys. Paddy loves to sleep on the bed with you every night. He may get off at times to chew on a toy or drink water and will return. Sometimes he is just hot and will lay on the floor. He loves Air Conditioning as he gets overheated quickly. He definitely is an inside dog as he loves to be with his family. He sure would love to have more yard space to burn off his built-up energy! Paddy can be leery of other dogs and some Male individuals if they don’t provide him with space and therefore will need a home with strong leadership and a home that will work with him on his anxiety, some fear-based leash reactivity and fear of males. And now a couple words from PADDY: “Don’t forget to tell everyone that I am smart, love to play with them and will jump as high as the clouds for treats (aka. Goodies). I will Prance around with my toys and lay upside down to entertain you with my funny smile and try to get a belly rub also. I am good in my house to run free - I just need a good long walk, a meal and some outdoor time to relieve myself again before you leave me alone. I have been left alone for 6 hours before but I had a great sleep after exercise and that meal along with a small amount of water left for me. When you come home I really need to get out to exercise again as my energy builds up so fast. I go outside immediately after each meal and first thing when you wake up in the morning and don’t forget about a Goodie (treat) after each meal when I come in.
