BREED: Chihuahua AGE: 2-3 yrs old (approx DOB 12/01/2020) WEIGHT: 6.5 lbs and fully grown LIKES: food!, playing with other dogs, laying beside his foster Dad with his head on your lap, and people who move slowly and allow him time and space to warm up. DISLIKES: New environments, being picked up, toddlers FAVORITE THINGS: Stuffed toys, and treats! ENERGY LEVEL: Medium FENCED YARD REQUIRED: Yes. Otis's new home must have a fully fenced, escape proof yard. He is very small and can fit through little holes or gaps in a fence. He enjoys being outside with his people though, and a fenced yard is the safest way for him to be able to run around freely. CRATE TRAINED: Yes HOUSE BROKEN: Yes, on a schedule. MEDICAL ISSUES: None. Otis has been neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and is on a monthly heartworm/flea prevention. NOTES FROM FOSTER: Otis came from a situation where he had one owner and never left the house he grew up in. He lived there with 6 other Chihuahuas who were all related to him until his owner passed away and he came to foster care. Otis has been with the rescue for three months at the time of this posting, and he has warmed up to is foster dad and dog siblings well. REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW HOME: Otis will do best in a home with one or more other dogs he can take cues from. He is a very shy dog and will need a home where someone can be patient with him and allow him to come out of his shell. This could take weeks to occur. He does not like to be picked up until he trusts you, so someone will need to respect this boundary with him. We will require a fenced yard and no small children in the house.
