This adorable 6-month-old Dachshund/mixed breed boy was rescued from a high kill shelter by our Southern rescue partner and is heading to Connecticut to find his perfect forever home and family.At 6 months old and 23 pounds it is estimated Oscar will be a medium sized dog (31-60 pounds) when he is done growing. He is loads of fun to be around, whether he is meeting and greeting dogs or children or anybody who is ready to be a friend and playmate, although it is not known if cats will be part of his entourage.Oscar is working on his house, leash and crate training. Rescue dogs have accidents as they adapt to a new home so regular potty breaks with positive reinforcement is most helpful in achieving success. Oscar is such a cheerful fellow that plenty of playtime and cuddles along with lessons will be fun for everyone. If crate training is planned, Oscar will need a crate that grows with him so he can turn around easily and lie down. Crates must be warm welcoming places and must not be used for punishment. It is a mystery how Oscar ended up in a high kill shelter, but it will not be a mystery why everyone who meets him says Oscar is a joyful boy who will bring smiles, laughs and plenty of good cheer to his new forever home and family.The adoption fee for Oscar is $500.
