My Story

Oreo Bunny is a female Border Collie (BC's)/Australian Cattle Dog. Her DOB was 4/3/10 and she will be available for adoption on Saturday 6/5/10 at our weekly adoption fair at the N. Academy PetSmart store in Colorado Springs. Her mother is around 25lbs a working ranch dog with a marvelous disposition. She is a mellow and loving dog who loves people. Some BC's cab be a bit hyper because of their extreme intelligence - Oreo Bunny is not. BC's are the smartest of all dogs. In a 2004 issue of the journal, "Science", researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology described a border collie named Rico that has an acute ability to learn human language. Rico has so far learned the names of over 200 objects, but more importantly, demonstrated the ability to apply logic. In one test, Rico and his owner were placed in one room, while several of Rico's toys were placed in another room. The owner asked Rico to fetch certain items by saying their names. Rico was able to fetch the correct item in 37 out of 40 times. The fact that the owner was in one room while the toys were in another prove that Rico could not receive any other signals from his owner. Originating during the 19th century, the Border Collie was so named due to their home of development on the border of Scotland / England. This breed was prized for their outstanding herding abilities of any type of livestock. Today the Border Collie is a popular farm worker, family companion, and talented show dog. The Border Collie is medium-sized, exceptionally athletic, and possesses great endurance. They are confident, and determined. They are light on their feet, have a flowing movement. This breed is devoted to their masters. The Border Collie is thrives on human interaction. Beta is a 10 week old female and a very loving puppy. She has some chow which sturdy durable dogs in her. Australian Cattle Dogs dogs are small to medium in size, easy to groom, require a good amount of exercise. Trustworthy and very intelligent. The Australian Cattle Dog is compact, strong, alert, and agile. This breed is trustworthy, courageous, and is exceedingly devoted to the duties they are given. A member of the working and herding group, the Australian Cattle Dog is a combination of substance, balance, power, and hard muscular condition. An extremely intelligent, loyal, and affectionate breed, the Australian Cattle Dog is protective of their family, home, and territory. They thrive on human interaction and activity. This breed is good with children they have been raised with. They are typically suspicious of strangers. Often dogs of this breed will attempt to herd and nose at the heels of anything and everything that moves. Children love to be herded.
