Okami

Okami (meaning Wolf in Japanese) is a very special case. He has been outside and maybe ignored a lot, for most of his life. He will need to go to a home that can provide very special care, with people who are big-dog savvy, patient, and who can manage their expectations. He is estimated to be about 1.5 years old and a husky/shepherd mix. He is NOT house trained and WILL chew any and everything ranging from shoes to towels and random wires. He will need to go to a home off base that does not have any young kids in the home. He is a very gentle boy and has learned to walk well on a leash. He does have anxiety and would do well with an experienced dog trainer/behaviorist. A positive note is that he is dog friendly and will stick close to a more confident dog. He is still figuring out people and cannot be left alone outside. Okami is, overall, the dog version of Tarzan. Multiple meet and greets will be required if you are interested in Okami, so please give us a call to schedule an appointment to meet him! The public is welcome to come adopt the patriotic pets at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter! All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, flea-treated, and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Adoption fee $110. Please call ahead at 760-725-8120 to ensure the pet is still at the shelter, and to answer a few questions for us regarding that pet. If you do not have regular, normal access to the base, please DO give us a call and we will work with you to arrange a meeting with the pet that interests you.
