My Story

Meet Nova! This gorgeous girl is growing up in a shelter and wants nothing more than to find a forever home. Nova is believed to be around five months old and currently weighs about 30 pounds. While we're unsure how big she'll be when fully grown, we expect her to be at least 50 pounds, if not a little bigger. Without a DNA test, we cannot confirm her breed, but we suspect she is a Doberman Pinscher mix. Nova’s past remains largely unknown as she was found as a stray alongside her littermates and brought to a local shelter. She currently resides in a shelter environment, which has limited her exposure to the outside world. However, she has a ton of potential and we know she would make a great companion with stability, guidance, and support. Nova is 100% puppy and therefore needs a patient and dedicated owner who is willing to work with her on basic obedience training, socialization, potty training, and all the necessary guidance to help her become a well-rounded and happy dog. She seems to be very dog-friendly and would probably benefit from the companionship of another dog to help build her confidence. Although she has had limited exposure to children, we think she could live with them, but slow and monitored interactions are necessary. She has not been tested around cats, but this can be arranged upon request. **UPDATE** Nova is now in a foster home and we will update her profile accordingly based on her foster families notes. At her young age, Nova displays a lot of playful puppy energy and behaviors that will need positive engagement and consistent training. She needs a home that recognizes the joys and responsibilities of raising a young dog. Ideally, her new home would offer an active lifestyle and have a yard—preferably fenced—as her likely size makes apartment living less suitable. While we cannot confirm her breed, we suggest doing your research on Dobermans as they might not be for everyone. It's important for potential adopters to understand that transitioning from a shelter to a home environment will be a significant change for Nova. Patience and understanding will be crucial as she adjusts and learns what it means to be part of a loving family. Requirements: -No apartments/condos -Must have a yard, ideally fenced -Breed experience is preferred but not required Nova is up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, on monthly prevention, and ready to find her forever home! Contact & Adoption App: For inquiries, more information, or to apply for adoption, please get in touch with us at [email protected] or visit our application page at https://www.pawsinyourhandsrescue.com/application (copy and paste) Important Notes: All dogs are located in Texas and will be transported ONLY after adoption, with transportation costs included in the adoption fee. While we make educated guesses about the breed based on their features and characteristics, we cannot guarantee the specific breed mix. We encourage adopters to focus on a dog's personality, behavior, and compatibility with their lifestyle rather than breed labels.
