My Story

Meet Wonder aka Nova! Nova girl was brought to the shelter as a found pup who was showing neurological issues, she was taken to the vet right away and the testing began! As her history was unknown we tested for Distemper, Rabies, and multiple other things, we also did X-Rays to determine any highly noticeable brain injury, during this X-Ray it was discovered that she had a metal looking object in her GI system, but no known severe neurological issues. She had surgery the following week to remove the foreign object from her belly and it was found to be a Steel Wool Scouring Pad! She recovered from that surgery and was placed on Antibiotics, as well as put on a special diet as to not interfere with her healing stomach. She was also put on Gabapentin for the tremors. Nova has been with us for 6 Weeks now and we have exhausted all the options for finding a cure for her tremors as she is still having them. She is a very happy go lucky girl who loves to be outside and to play and to be snuggled. At this time without the expensive cost of a MRI at the MU vet hospital which is around $5,000.00 we are leaning towards her having Wobblers Syndrome possibly but in all honesty we just don't know and being a rural shelter we are limited on our funds and Nova has exceeded what would normally be spent, but we just knew this girl was worth it! She does not let her shaking hold her back! Nova does well in a crate and will need this in her her new home as well, as it keeps her safe while you are away, she still tends to try and eat things she should not so this will need to be watched carefully! She is potty trained and will need to walk on a harness as it is most safe for her. She also does better on a carpeted surface or would do good to wear boots or have paw gripper to help her with her traction. Nova is also fully vetted including Spay, Heartworm Test (negative) All vaccines including Rabies, On monthly Preventatives as well as Microchipped. If you are interested in this sweet girl please complete our adoption application on our website at www.moberlyanimalshelter.bravesites.com. Meet and Greets for Nova will be done at the shelter for approved adopters only.
