My Story

From Norbie's Rescuer: "He is honestly the best dog that I have ever met in my entire life. I have rescued dogs before but it's just never been like this. They've never been so... good. And so in need of help. And so grateful."

Norbie's Story:

Norbie was rescued by a good samaritan after being found dumped in front of a house in Jackson County. He was in extremely rough shape and was rushed to the vet for a medical examination.

The vet determined that Norbie had been beaten with a blunt object all over his body. He was also emaciated (15-20 lbs underweight), suffering from a bad urinary tract infection, skin infection from dirty wounds, eye infection and ear infection. His teeth have been worn down to nubs, most likely from chewing rocks while starving. He is also suffering from a little arthritis but is responding well to affordable medications.

Norbie hasn't let his mysterious (and heartbreaking) past get him down. We may never know what all he endured, but we do know that he has the temperamant of a true APBT and he is eager to begin a new life as a cherished pet with a family who will treat him like the wonderful dog he is.

Norbie is healing beautifully and his vision and hearing have not been impacted by the infections. His urine has returned to normal, his skin is clearing up, he's fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and neutered.

Additionally, he's housetrained, leash-trained, furniture trained, non food-aggressive, and LOVES to be around people. He has done well with other dogs so far but seems to be either intrigued or scared of cats.

Basically, people make Norbie happy, and he's depressed when there isn't anyone around. It's heartbreaking. He will snuggle with his foster mom at night until he falls asleep and then she can slip out of the room.

Norbie's foster mom already has a house-full and cannot commit to keeping Norbie for herself, despite her growing attachment. Please give this loving dog a chance and show him how wonderful life can be!

Apply to foster or adopt Norbie through the MABBR application and it will be sent to his foster home.
