Niven is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey, and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster!
More about Niven:
Neutered: Yes!
Up to date on vaccines: Yes!
Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized
- He has been taking pain medication to help treat a mild limp
Housebroken: Yes!
Crate trained: Yes, but he can take a short time to settle when left at home alone
Leash walking: Niven is leash reactive on walks and will bark and pull when he sees other dogs, cyclists, joggers, and walkers. He will need to continue working on this with positive reinforcement training, and will do best in a quiet and low-traffic area.
Dog social: He has not interacted closely with other dogs while in our care, but we believe he may be best as the only dog in his future home.
Cat social: Unknown, but he has shown prey drive with small critters on walks
Kid friendly: Likely not a match, as he has barked at kids on walks
Niven likes:
- Waking up early, ready for the day and playtime, and then
snoozing the afternoon away
- Sleeping next to you, burrowed under the covers
- Chasing tennis balls and solving puzzle toys
Niven is a cute and very sweet little fella who is energetic and cuddly. He would love a home where he will get lots of opportunities to burn off this energy in positive ways with mental enrichment, physical activity, and basic rewards-based training. He can be rather vocal and sensitive to all the noises of the city and apartment buildings, so would be best matched to a home without thin/shared walls. He has also shown reactivity to various triggers on walks, and will need to be in a low-traffic area or a home with a fenced yard.
Niven's adoption fee is $300, and he is ready to cuddle up with his forever person!
