My Story

Nanuk (Inuit dialect for 'polar bear') is a gorgeous purebred Samoyed who was turned into the Alameda shelter when her previous owners had military obligations and could no longer keep her. She is a former showdog and has a beautiful white coat and the most darling face. We don't know if she's won any ribbons in her life, but she's already won the hearts of everyone who's met her. She is great with other dogs, walks nicely on leash and is so mellow in the house, she just lies down beside you and nudges you every now and then for some love! If you've ever wanted a huggable polar bear of a dog, then Nanuk is the one for you! She will require consistent grooming to maintain her fluffy coat and she should be upervised in a new home to prevent any accidents. She seems very good with kids and she ignored the neighborhood cats while out on a walk, she's just a great all around family dog. If you are interested in meeting Nanuk, you can contact her foster mom Connie at 510-499-4876.
