NALA - Paws Behind Bars Trained

NALA Nala is a 3 year old female, great dane mix. She was surrendered to the shelter when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. Nala currently weighs 90 lbs. Due to her size and the need for help with her overall skills (her ailing owner didnt have a lot of time to spend with her) she made a great candidate for our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. She loves people and other dogs. During her stay in foster, she befriended everyone, from a 3 year old to a senior. She is fine with other dogs but her favorite in the prison is a 6 month old puppy. Some days, she likes her crate, some days she doesn't. (although she doesn't do anything destructive when she out). In the prison, she has mastered her obedience, and most importantly, has learned to walk nicely on a leash. She adores her inmate handler and is never far from his side. As for the rest of the prison environment, well? she is tolerating it. It's a bit too "busy" for her. This girl enjoys a quite, predictable day. Her perfect family will be one that has appreciates having a large "shadow" around, and we mean large! She's got a lot of "great" in her breed make up (dane & pyrenees, a dna test was done). Her brindle coat is beautiful, without a sign of any pyrenees "fluff". Inside the home, she makes herself very comfortable. Outside, there are still things that make her think twice, although she's so much better than when she first came in. She must have a good, fenced yard.
