Please contact Carolyn ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.'Mutt-Mutt', DOB 07-10-05, is what's known as a 'mountain mutt' of mixed Eastern European Mountain Livestock Guardian Dog. He is a mixture of Maremma, Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherd. Mutt is funny looking, short & squatty, wide, low to the ground, 90 lbs of solid muscle, and a real sweetheart. He came into rescue due to the financial loss of his Ozark Mountain area farm & flock of several hundred head of sheep & goats. Not one predator loss during the time he was on duty. Can work sheep, goats, or both. Is a serious, formidable, quiet, seasoned, working dog. Has been in rehab for several weeks for socialization, and is responding well. He is a perfect gentleman in the car, at the vet, around strangers, other animals. Mutt will also transition easily into a companion/family/farm dog instead of a working home, and will require a fenced yard.
We do not place LGD's in single working environments, they must work in pairs. They must go in opposite sex pairs, or adopter must have at least 1 LGD of opposite sex. Secure, above ground fenced area, veterinary reference, home/farm visit, and adoption contract is required. An additional LGD questionnaire must be filled out and submitted via email - please request questionnaire from:
[email protected] or
[email protected].

We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes to learn how they will interact with
your family.
Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks or more, spayed or neutered and fully vetted before placement. NGPR will
take back any dog who does not succeed in its new home. Many NGPR volunteers are members of the AKC breed club, adhere to their rescue guidelines for purebred Pyrs and apply these standards to the adoption of Pyr mixes as well. Visit
www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
