Murphy

Murphy is an adorable 6 year old Miniature Poodle. He came to Precious Paws after being surrendered by a backyard breeder. Unfortunately this little guy spent most of his life breeding and so he's been slowly learning real life skills while in foster care. Murphy is fully vetted, including neutered and a recent dental surgery (he lost 10 teeth!). He does have a mild heart murmur that will need to be monitored throughout his life as well as a collapsing trachea which makes wearing a harness for walks important. Otherwise, Murphy is a happy healthy little guy and he's ready to find a home to call his own! Murphy is still quite nervous in new situations. He takes times to warm up to new environments, people, and pets. He does get along well with other small dogs with proper introductions and time, big dogs are still a bit scary for him. Murphy would love to find a quiet, adult only home, where he can continue to build life skills and confidence. An adopter will need to understand that Murphy could be an escapee when he's nervous so precautions need to be taken to ensure he stays safely home. A note from Murphy's foster family; "Murphy is hilarious. He loves so deeply. He wants to see you when you walk in the door and say hi and give you lots of love, even though he’s slightly afraid. He loves cuddling with people. He wants to curl up next to you for hours. He will go to his crate to feel secure, but he also feels secure when he’s curled up next to his people. He’s slowly learning to play with the resident dogs. He doesn’t really know how to play, so this means putting his head on the ground and rubbing his ears while he’s in a bow and just expecting our dog to do the same thing at the same time. She doesn’t really understand it, but she’s happy to oblige and it’s very cute. They’re slowly starting to cuddle too, and I’ve caught him eying up the big dogs for cuddles and slowly inching closer to cuddling with the bigger dogs. He definitely has a lot of love to give. He likes to wake me up by running up to the bed once he’s let out of the crate, standing on his hind legs, and pawing at the mattress to wake me up and get a pet before he goes outside. He wants to greet everyone and is always happy to see people."
